課程概述 |
本課旨在介紹美國史重要史實的
發生背景、影響及史學解釋。本
學期將從上學期中止處，即AP第
十章開始。教學方式以課堂講授
為主。本課程的教科書為Gary
B. Nash, et al , The
American People: Creating a
Nation and a Society, 6th
Edition (Pearson Education,
2004)(以下簡稱為AP)第一冊及第
二冊，為必讀教材。本書的特點
是以平民百姓角度來詮釋歷史。
讓學生從人的觀點，尤其是普通
人的角度來了解歷史上的公共事
件如總統選舉、世界大戰等是如
何影響了個人的生活，而個人又
如何塑造了歷史。 |

課程目標 |
除了解美國史(從史前到內戰前
後)重要史實的發生背景、影響及
史學解釋之外，學生作業將以指
定史料為對象，體驗史學研究及
撰寫學術論文之過程。 |

課程要求 |
每位同學在Cobbs and Gjerde
eds. Major Problems in
American History vol. I and
II, Documents and Essays書中
挑選一篇史料做名詞注釋(或他史
料，但須經教師事先同意)，並針
對該史料撰寫一篇3-5頁的報告，
練習寫研究論文。該論文之內容
應包括四部分：第一、這史料是
什麼？作者是誰？在什麼情況之
下產生這篇史料？第二、介紹這
篇史料的內容。第三、這件史料
的歷史背景？第四、在歷史脈絡
下，這件史料有何意義？對了解
當時歷史有何重要性。篇後並請附上參考書目。 |
